For Patients and Families
Time for Remembering is an annual event at which parents can remember and honor children who have died. The event includes a ceremony, flower-planting, and a reception with light refreshments. Children's Hospital staff attend to share rememberances with the parents they have served. Time for Remembering has been held each year since 1998.

You are welcome to wear what is most comfortable. Many families wear jeans, khakis, dresses, or even custom-printed t-shirts honoring their child.
The first half of the event will take place inside. The second half will be inside the lobby and outside by the Children's Garden.
The event will be held rain or shine.
The ceremony will be a special time of remembrance of your child, led by the Children's Hospital chaplain. There will be a guest speaker, special music, responsive readings, and a quiet time of reflection.
Your children are welcome to stay in the auditorium with you during the ceremony. Staff members will be on hand should you need any assistance. If you need to step out with your child at any time, you will still be able to hear the ceremony from the lobby.
We will serve light refreshments in the lobby immediately after the ceremony. Many families enjoy this time as way to reconnect with staff and other families. You are welcome to plant your flower at any time during the reception. The event will conclude at 5 p.m.
Vanderbilt is a smoke-free environment. Smoking will not be allowed on campus or near the auditorium.
Planting of flowers
During the reception, you and your family members are welcome to plant a flower in our Children's Garden to celebrate the life of your child. Staff will be on hand to assist you, should you need physical or emotional assistance. One flower will be provided to each family.
