The Performance Management and Improvement (PM&I) department manages quality and safety for Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt.
Our mission is to support Children’s Hospital in becoming a premier institution through the advancement of a culture built on quality, patient safety, and clinical efficiency and effectiveness. This is accomplished by engaging multiple stakeholders and using data to evaluate issues and initiatives at the system level to facilitate improvement in processes and outcomes.

Patient safety and error prevention

Hospital Acquired Condition (HAC) prevention bundles
In order to achieve improved patient outcomes and eliminate serious harm from occurring at Children’s Hospital, we have adopted evidence-based Prevention Bundles for the following hospital-acquired conditions (HACs):
- Adverse Drug Events (ADEs)
- Catheter Associated Urinary Tract Infections (CAUTIs)
- Central Line Associated Blood Stream Infections (CLABSIs)
- Pressure Injuries (PIs)
- Surgical Site Infections (SSIs)
- Ventilator Associated Pneumonia (VAP)
