Children’s Hospital is the only pediatric hospital in Middle Tennessee providing a comprehensive array of specialty and subspecialty services to receive this honor, achieving national rankings for 9 out of 10 of its pediatric specialty programs.
The U.S. News Best Children's Hospitals rankings for 2013-2014 recognize top performers among the nation's 179 designated pediatric hospitals. Children’s Hospital has been ranked every year by U.S. News since the inception of the publication’s pediatric rankings, now in its seventh year.
Children's Hospital continues to be a national leader in Urology, jumping 4 spots to rank 4th this year. Our pediatric urologists care for more than 14,000 children each year without forgetting that each child's care is unique. Through teamwork, collaboration and comprehensive care, we strive to give our patients the very best.
We helped pioneer neonatal intensive care, and our team continues to be world leaders in the care of critically ill newborns and premature infants. Breakthrough research and top-notch facilities help us provide specialized services unavailable elsewhere in our region.
Our Pulmonary specialists manage a wide range of pediatric pulmonary diseases, including asthma, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, interstitial lung disease, pulmonary vascular disease, and restrictive lung disease requiring mechanical ventilation.
Cardiology and Heart Surgery
Our team of cardiac surgeons, anesthesiologists, cardiologists, and cardiac intensivists have years of additional training to specialize in the treatment of children and young adults. We are a Center of Excellence for the treatment and research of children with congenital heart defects and care for the most complicated cases.
Diabetes and Endocrinology
Our pediatric endocrinologists treat hormone-related disorders in children to help them have a lifetime of wellness. Approximately half of our patients are referred to us for care of both Type1 and Type 2 diabetes. We are also training future leaders in endocrinology research and patient care.
Gastroenterology & GI Surgery
Our Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition treats children with problems of the digestive system, including the stomach, intestines, liver, or nutritional disorders. Our team is a leader in treating complex gastrointestinal issues.
Pediatric orthopaedic surgeons and general orthopedic physicians at Children's Hospital treat everything from simple fractures to the most complex orthopedic problems.
The Vanderbilt Childhood Cancer Program provides the most promising therapies and is committed to advancing research in all types of childhood cancers. We have several specialized programs including a dedicated Cancer Survivorship program.
Neurology and Neurosurgery
Our neurologists combine a family-based approach to care with leading-edge technology, diagnostic tools, and treatments when caring for children with issues involving the nervous system. Our neurosurgeons are leaders in fetal surgery for repair of spina bifida and other complex procedures.
