Nursing Float Pool
 

The VCH Float Pool consists of Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, Care Partners, and Medical Assistants who provide supplemental highly skilled care to various patient care areas at Children's Hospital, Children's Hospital Outpatient Clinics, off-campus clinics, and after-hours clinics. Registered Nurses (RNs)

Position Summary
 
Registered nurses apply the nursing process to plan and manage the care of patients. This includes continuum of care planning, patient and family education, and active participation on the healthcare team in a variety of roles.

LICENSED:
Case Manager, Charge Nurse, Clinical Staff Leader, Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Surgical Technologist, Nurse Anesthetist, Nurse Educator, Nurse Manager, Nurse Resident, Assistant Nurse Manager, Nurse Practitioner, Periop Nurse Intern, Registered Nurse, Research Nurse Specialist
Education Requirements Graduate of an NLN or CCNE accredited program.
Degree required will vary, depending on the position
Job Experience Requirements Required time in field previous to employment will vary, depending on the position
 
Licensure Requirements Registered Nurse - Tennessee or Compact State License

Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs)

Position Summary The licensed practical nurse supports the registered nurse or licensed physician or dentist, as well as the overall health-care team, in providing patient care. The LPN works in close collaboration with the team to evaluate the patient's plan of care and progress toward goal attainment. All patient-care activities are undertaken with the delegation/supervision of a licensed professional.
Types of Positions Available LPN's at Vanderbilt are employed primarily in outpatient or procedural areas.

Care Partners

Position Summary
 
Care Partners assist with the implementation of patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse.
Types of Positions Available  
Education Requirements
 

High school graduate or GED  

1) Requires current enrollment in a program of professional nursing RN) and successful completion of first semester of nursing school to include nursing fundamentals clinical, or
2) graduation from a Nursing Assistant or Aide Training Program, or
3) minimum of one year previous experience as a care partner or nursing assistant/technician.
