On Tuesday, April 8, donations made during Ben & Jerry’s Free Cone Day at the Ben & Jerry’s at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt will support Project Opportunity. Interns and graduates from Project Opportunity will hand deliver ice cream orders throughout Vanderbilt campus for a donation. Project Opportunity will make deliveries between 10 a.m. - noon and 4 – 6 p.m. The Ben & Jerry's at Children’s Hospital will be open between noon and 8 p.m.
Project Opportunity provides individuals living with disabilities with tuition-free job training and educational, developmental and employment opportunities within Vanderbilt University and Vanderbilt University Medical Center. The goal of Project Opportunity is to fill a business need with qualified individuals living with developmental disabilities.
"Ben & Jerry's Free Cone Day donations help support our mission of serving individuals with disabilities as well as provide continued vocational support to our graduates,” said Michelle Halman, program coordinator for Project Opportunity.
Delivery orders can be emailed to Michelle.Halman@vanderbilt.edu. A donation of $5 can buy up to six cups of ice cream and an $8 donation can buy up to 12 cups. All orders should be emailed by Monday, April 7, at midnight and must contain order size, a contact person, delivery location and a phone number. Donations can also be made in line at the Ben & Jerry’s at Children’s Hospital.
