Beginning Breastfeeding
The class is limited to the first 10 couples that are pre-registered. You must be pre-registered and confirmed to attend class. Please arrive 15 minutes early in order to sign in and pay the fee of $40 per couple. Due to the limited amount of classroom space, no walk-ins are accepted.
This class prepares expectant women and their support person for breastfeeding. The course includes information on how to successfully breastfeed your baby, breastfeeding options for returning to work, pumping, and management of common breastfeeding problems.
The class is offered on the following evenings from 6 to 8 pm.

This class is limited to the first 5 couples that are pre-registered. You must be pre-registered and confirmed to attend the class. Please arrive 15 minutes early to the class in order to sign in and pay the fee of $10 per couple. Due to the limited amount of classroom space, no walk-ins are accepted.
The class will focus on the importance of the proper use and installation of child passenger safety restraints, focusing primarily on the transportation of newborns and infants. Participants will receive education on various child passenger safety topics, including the TN child passenger safety law, and also given the opportunity to have their car seat checked at their vehicle by a certified child passenger safety technician.
Class participants should bring their child's car seat to the class. Participants must park in designated parking areas if they are interested in having their car seat checked by a technician. Parking is available on the 4th floor (purple area) near the main elevator lobby of Children's Hospital.
Classes are taught the 4th Wednesday of each month. The class meets from 6 to 8 p.m.
New Beginnings Prepared Childbirth
The class is limited to the first 10 couples that are pre-registered. You must be pre-registered and confirmed to attend class. Please arrive 15 minutes early to the first class in order to sign in and pay the fee of $75 per couple. Due to the limited amount of classroom space, no walk-ins are accepted.
This five-week series, meeting from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., offers expectant women and their support person in-depth information about pregnancy, labor and delivery and postpartum. Pain management techniques for birth are taught which include breathing, relaxation, epidural anesthesia, pain medication, and other coping techniques.
This weekly series meets from 6 to 8 p.m. for five-consecutive weeks.

This one-day class is offered on two Saturdays per month. This class is limited to the first 10 couples that are pre-registered. You must be pre-registered and confirmed in order to attend class. This class includes information about labor and delivery, anesthesia, epidurals, cesarean sections and postpartum care. This class is ideal for parents anticipating use of an epidural or those wanting a refresher.
The class meets all day on the following Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Siblings at Birth

Ages 5 and older This class is for families who plan for their child to attend the birth. Each child will need to bring a support person other than a parent to the hospital delivery. We recommend Siblings take this class to better prepare for attending the birth.This class is held the last 30 minutes of the Siblings are Special class. Dates are subject to change.
Scheduled at 5 p.m. about every six to eight weeks. This class is limited to 6 children per class. You must be pre-registered and confirmed in order to attend class. Please arrive 15 minutes early in order to sign in and pay the fee of $15 per family for one child and $10 for each additional child. Ages 5 to 10. Due to the limited amount of classroom space, no walk-ins are accepted.
This child-centered tour and class introduces children to the changes that occur in a family with a newborn baby.

Community CPR classes teaching lifesaving skills of CPR for adults and children are available at Children's Hospital. Please follow this link for class availability and to register for a class.
