Neurology Clinic

Our faculty offer consultation services at Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt by evaluating and working with patients and families dealing with illnesses, disorders, and conditions that involve the nervous system (brain, spinal cord, nerves, and muscles). The clinic and its associated diagnostic laboratories are located on the 9th floor of the Doctors' Office Tower at Children's Hospital.

Diagnostic tests available in the clinic include lumbar puncture, electroencephalography (EEG), and electromyography (EMG). The clinic schedules diagnostic imaging of the brain, such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computerized tomography (CT), with the Department of Radiology.

All patients must be referred by their primary care physician. Our division then works with patients and families—taking into account the patient’s individual needs and limitations—to offer the latest information and treatment options available for a variety of neurological conditions and disorders, including:

  • Cerebral palsy
  • Developmental delay or regression
  • Disorders of gait and movement
  • Epileptic seizures
  • Migraines
  • Poor muscle tone
  • Strokes
  • Tics and Tourette syndrome
  • Tremor
  • Weakness of one or more limbs
