Pediatric Critical Care Medicine

The Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt is the regional leader in critical care. Doctors and nurses who focus only on caring for critically ill children provide around-the-clock intensive and post-surgical care.

Children's Hospital uses the latest technologies to deliver the highest quality pediatric critical care. Researchers and educators are making breakthroughs in helping children heal and recover.

Pediatric Critical Care Unit (PCCU)
The 42-bed PCCU provides specialized care for critically ill children. The PCCU comprises the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (PCICU).

Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO)
ECMO is a method of long-term lung and/or heart support in babies, children and teens with severe lung and/or heat failure. We have been providing ECMO services to children for more than 20 years.
