Neonatology Intensive Care Unit

Our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), provides the highly specialized, family centered care your baby needs. Our first priority is taking care of your baby and family. Babies need the love and comfort of their families so we want you to be with your baby whenever you can.

Founded in 1961 by Mildred Stahlman, M.D., the Vanderbilt NICU was one of the first specialized hospital programs in the world exclusively for the care of preterm infants.

Parents, grandparents, and up to two people chosen by the parents may visit any time. All other visitors may visit only with a parent.
