Research, Education, and Support

Researchers in Medical Genetics are involved in laboratory and patient-oriented research leading to earlier detection and better management of inherited diseases. We are committed to safely bringing recent discoveries to our patients at Children's Hospital and around the world. Some of our current clinical trials of treatment of genetic disorders include evaluating medications for treatment of Down Syndrome, evaluating enzyme replacement in Pompe disease, and evaluating various treatments of hyperammonemia resulting from cirrhosis.

Genetics Research and Education

The division of Medical Genetics provides pre-doctoral and post-doctoral training. We offer post-doctoral training through an ABMG accredited Clinical Molecular Genetics training program offered through the Pathology, Microbiology, and Immunology Department, Better Outcomes of Lysosomal Disease (BOLD) fellowship, and a post-doctoral research fellowship. We also provide elective rotations in Genetics for undergraduate students, genetic counselor students, medical students and resident physicians.

Visit the Department of Pediatrics' website to learn about our research efforts and training programs.
