Research and Education

Research

The Division of Critical Care Medicine is committed to the discovery of new therapies for treating life-threatening illnesses and to convert these discoveries into better ways to deliver care and improve outcomes. Our division is also at the forefront of using technology to deliver the highest quality care.

Education and training for professionals

We offer an ACGME accredited three-year program for pediatricians. The program focuses on acquiring and refining expertise in managing critically ill children in a state-of-the-art pediatric critical care unit and developing research interests and skills.

Research training is an integral part of the fellowship, with an equal division between clinical and lab research time. Laboratory experience is available in a variety of areas, including mechanisms of neuronal injury, pulmonary pathophysiology, renal physiology, and nutrition. Ongoing clinical research opportunities that complement laboratory efforts are also available. Selected individuals may also choose to participate in a concurrent Masters of Public Health program and Masters of Science program.

Visit the Department of Pediatrics' website to learn more about our division's research and education opportunities.
