Your Visit

Visiting our clinic gives you access to an entire team of health care providers who are specially trained to treat and manage blood disorders.

Hematologists are doctors who study diseases of the blood. The doctor will complete a physical exam on your child with an emphasis on hemophilia related problems. You may also see a medical resident or fellow. Residents and fellows are doctors who are learning an area of medicine from a specialist. After the exam, they will study your child's current treatment and recommend a disease management plan.

Clinical Nurse

The nurse will talk to you about your home treatment records, your bleeding history, and any other health problems. If you and your child are ready to do home infusions, the nurse will make an appointment for training. The nurse will also provide you with educational materials.

Research Nurse

A research nurse will speak with you about current research studies that may benefit your child. They will help you fill out the consents and paperwork to enroll you or your child in a study.

Physical Therapy

A physical therapist will examine your child. They will measure range of motion, muscle strength, and look at how your child walks. The physical therapist will review any problems and make recommendations for specific exercise and/or rehabilitation programs. Not all patients will see a physical therapist.

Social Services

The social worker will talk about issues that may be affecting you or your child. The social worker will also talk to you about insurance, school issues, employment, and other psychosocial issues.

A pharmacist will speak with you about your child's current medications. You will also discover current medicines available for bleeding disorders. Learn more about our Pharmacy Services.
