Childbirth Education Classes

Beginning Breastfeeding

The fee for this class is $40.00. Registration is limited to 2 people.  Due to the limited amount of classroom space, no walk-ins are accepted.

This class prepares expectant women and their support person for breastfeeding. The course includes information on how to successfully breastfeed your baby, breastfeeding options for returning to work, pumping, and management of common breastfeeding problems.

This class meets from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. unless otherwise specified.

New Beginnings Childbirth Class

The fee for this class is $75.00. Registration is limited to 2 people. No walk-ins are accepted.

This one-day class, Saturday’s from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., teaches coping skills for labor, including relaxation, breathing techniques, and medications used during labor and delivery. It prepares the mother and her support person(s) for labor, delivery, and the postpartum period.

You may wish to bring a small pillow with you. It can be used behind your back, as sitting for long periods in a chair can be uncomfortable. If you wish to participate in any of the floor exercises (breathing, birthing positions) please bring a yoga mat or blanket.

Newborn Care

The fee for this class is $40.00Registration is for up to 2 people. Due to the limited amount of classroom space, no walk-ins are accepted.

For expectant parents and adoptive parents, this class includes practical information on how to care for your newborn during the first month of life. Topics include: family adjustment, bathing, diapering, signs of illness, safety, newborn characteristics and behavior.

The class meets from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. (unless otherwise specified)

Infant CPR

Classes are available through the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association. Please check their websites for more information on classes and training.
