Resources for Families

Your Child with Inflammatory Bowel Disease: A Family Guide for Caregiving - This book is an educational resource for parents of children and adolescents who have been diagnosed with Crohn disease or ulcerative colitis. It contains material that can help make sense of the bewildering amount of information when a child is diagnosed with one of these forms of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). This book was written as a collective effort by more than 50 physician members of the North American Society of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition.

Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA) is a non-profit, volunteer-driven organization dedicated to finding the cure for Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis and improving the quality of life of children and adults affected by these diseases.

Tennessee Chapter of the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America features local contact information for the CCFA along with news, local events and more.

CCFA Camp Oasis is a co-ed residential camp program that enriches the lives of children with Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis through safe and supportive camp community. Because all the campers (and most of the adults) at Camp Oasis have IBD, the supportive community allows campers to see they are not alone, try things they never imagined, create friendships with people who truly understand them, share their IBD stories, gain confidence, and build their spirit.

You and IBD: An Animated Patient's Guide to Inflammatory Bowel Disease helps patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) to find the latest information and receive advice about IBD from medical experts. You’ll find video discussions between experts in the field, interviews with an IBD patient, slideshows, downloads, and animations on topics ranging from what causes IBD (both Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis) to the medications and surgeries used to treat IBD to how IBD can be managed to achieve the best quality of life.

IBD University: Graduating to Independence is a resource portal with tips and info to help older teens with ulcerative colitis or Crohn's disease transition from pediatric care to adult care. Sections include Education, Lifestyle, Healthcare, and Self Help.

GastroKids: Help & Hope for Children with Digestive Disorders - Millions of children are living with pediatric digestive and nutritional disorders. GastroKids provides easy to understand information about the treatment and management of these pediatric digestive conditions for children and parents.
