Fragile X Clinic

Developmental Pediatrics Clinic

The Vanderbilt Fragile X Clinic is an inter-professional program that provides comprehensive care and treatment for individuals with Fragile X syndrome.

The Vanderbilt Fragile X Clinic is a proud member of the Fragile X Clinical and Research Consortium (FXCRC), which is supported by the National Fragile X Foundation. The Vanderbilt Fragile X Clinic is supported by the Center for Child Development at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt.

Our team, led by pediatric neurologist and geneticist Dr. Tyler Reimschisel, also includes an occupational therapist, speech therapist, educational and behavior consultant, and genetic counselor. All our team members have extensive experience in Fragile X syndrome and child development.

Because there are multiple team members who will assess patients during the clinic visit, the appointment may last up to four hours.

  • Tyler Reimschisel, MD, MHPE (Clinical Director)
  • Laney Dunn, SLP
  • Vicki Scala, OT
  • David Crnobori, MSEd, BCBA (Clinic Coordinator)

On your appointment day

Appointments for Fragile X Clinic begin at Noon. Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time. If you arrive 30 minutes after the scheduled appointment time, your child will not be seen and you will need to call the clinic to reschedule the appointment.

Please bring familiar and comforting items, such as electronic devices, toys, books, and snacks. In addition, bring extra necessities, such as diapers, formula, bottles, and changes of clothing.

Because the appointments are long and require information and observations from the parents and patient, it is important that you do not bring other children. If it is absolutely necessary to bring a sibling, we ask that another responsible adult also attend to provide assistance.

The Fragile X Clinic is located on the 9th Floor of the Doctors' Office Tower at Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt. View directions.
