Family Services and Food Options
 


Guest Services helps with resources or questions not directly related to patient care. These uniformed staff members are located throughout the hospital and are easily recognized by their black pants and gold coats. You also may ask for help by calling Hospital Guest Services at (615) 322-1000.

Interpreter Services provides resources to patients who are deaf and hard of hearing, visually-impaired, or have limited English speaking ability. For services for the deaf and hard of hearing, call (615) 248-8828. For services for patients and families with limited English proficiency, please call (615) 322-7378 or visit the Interpreter Services website.

My Health at Vanderbilt is a free and secure way to manage your child's health care online. To set up an account, go to www.MyHealthatVanderbilt.com. This will give you limited access. To gain full access, you will need to show a photo ID and fill out an application form at our doctor's office.

Patient Relations provides a patient relations specialist for questions, needs or concerns you may have about your child's visit. Please call Patient Relations at (615) 322-6154 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays. After hours, please call the Vanderbilt Operator at (615) 936-1000.

Visiting Hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Visitor passes must be worn at all times. These passes are at the nurses' station. Ask your nurse for visiting hours specific to your unit. Parents and/or guardians are given ID bands with your child's information to identify you as your child's caregiver. Parents and guardians are not considered visitors.

Volunteers are easily recognized by their blue vests. They are here to help patients, families and staff members and work in a variety of areas. Hospital volunteers complete a screening and orientation process including background checks and health screenings. Visit Volunteer Services.

Lost and found
If you have lost an item, call (615) 343-5371.

Special events happen during the week and provide a more healing atmosphere for you and your child. You may see these events in the First Tennessee Conference Center and Theatre, at the performance stage or in the playrooms. Check the calendar of events to see what is happening.

Patient Meals are available during the day for your child by calling (615) 936-4780. Orders are taken by room service operators from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The operator and your dietitian will work with you to make sure your child gets food he or she likes while following any restrictions. You can also preorder meals and delivery times. We are happy to help you contact your health care providers if you have questions about your diet. A nutritionist is available upon request. Breast-feeding moms should ask their nurse for food options.

Food Options for Families/Siblings

Children's Way Café includes:

  • Food court at Childrens HospitalVandy Café serves breakfast 6 to10:30 a.m. daily. Lunch is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday.
  • Ben & Jerry's: 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday; noon to 9 p.m. Saturday; closed Sunday
  • Subway: 9 a.m. to midnight Monday through Friday; 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday
  • Suzie's Espresso Coffee Shop: 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday
  • Taco Bell and Pizza Hut Express: 10 a.m to 11 p.m. daily

Outside of Children's Hospital

  • Courtyard Café is on the second floor of Vanderbilt University Hospital. Hours are 6 to 2 a.m. They offer salad bars, hot food lines, grab and go, and fast food options.
  • Au Bon Pain is on the courtyard of Vanderbilt University Hospital. It is open 5 a.m. to midnight Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday, and closed Sunday.
